Will Google Quick Search Box Replace QuickSilver?
Google Quick Search Box has been floating around the internet for a while now. Every once in a while, I see a few people mention it. Google Quick Search Box is an application specifically for OS X that indexes all programs, files, e-mails, documents, etc. on your particular machine that allows you to quickly launch said media by using a keystroke.
You may be saying to yourself: "This sounds a lot like QuickSilver". That's because, quite frankly, it is. QuickSilver is also an application for OS X that allows you to index and launch applications and media from one keystroke. QuickSilver is very widely known, and one of my favorite applications. Some say it is a more snappy replacement for Spotlight.
Will QuickSilver be taken over by Google Quick Search Box? It wouldn't surprise me. Google seems to trying to be revolutionizing everything that has to do with media. Google has such a large share of the market that if they were to mainstream Google Quick Search Box, they could easily take over QuickSilver The catch with Google Quick Search Box is not only does it index files on your computer, it searches the internet. This to me seems to be even more of a way for Google to get more traffic to their sites. While this is smart on their part, I notice this slows the application down.
